In addition to transcribing content in any of the 90+ languages we support, Reduct can also translate between any of these languages to another.

Translate to a new language

When uploading, you should select the language that is spoken in your footage; translation is a secondary step after you have a transcript in the original language.

To translate your recording, click on "Translations," near the top of the recordings panel, and choose "New Translation." Select the desired language you want to translate into. Your translation will be ready in a few minutes.

Note that translation will be billed at the same rate as transcription. For most users, this means that it will be charged against your included credits from your subscription, rather than being a separate payment.

Viewing the translation, correcting transcripts, downloading captioned video

You can switch to viewing the translation using the same menu by choosing a completed translation from the list instead of New translation.

Translations can be corrected (select some transcript text, and hit "Correct" or use the keyboard shortcut "x").

You can export translations of the whole recording - subtitles can be downloaded as an .srt file, and captioned video as an .mp4 file, and legal format transcripts as .txt and .pdf. (.docx export support is in progress.)

You can also download captioned video clips by selecting some text and hitting "Download." Captions will be in the language that currently in view:

Side-by-side view

You can also look at the original language and a translation side-by-side. This view allows for easier correction, as well as a way to compare whether the translation capture the finer nuances of what was said.

In reels

You can also access translations from reels.

Recordings need to be translated at source, but once they are translated you can see highlights in reels with translated captions. Clicking on the "Translations" button will show you which translations are available; those with numbers next to them indicate that only some of the items in your reel have been translated to that language. Untranslated items will simply display their original language.

Standard reel actions work as expected: you can cut portions of the transcript, split items, etc.

Exports (eg, videos with captions; docx or SRT, etc) will match the selected and visible language wherever possible.
