Product Updates for Public Defense - October 2025
Sharing the updates we made to Reduct in October! Please forward this to anyone using or piloting Reduct at your office.
Here’s the link to the previous product update — September 2025.
(1) No law enforcement customers
Reduct was previously used by a small handful of police departments and prosecutors’ offices, primarily for redaction. We decided that this conflicts with our commitment to public defense, and formally announced that law enforcement and attorneys’ offices are no longer welcome on Reduct. See our press release on the topic.
(2) Multicam: smoother playback, and new UI options
We updated our multi-cam view with several features. First, we smoothed out the play and pause behavior, making it more intuitive. We also added two options:
- A layout option to “Collapse timeline” - which makes the timeline smaller and puts the focus on the videos. This is particularly helpful if you’re viewing lots and lots of recordings at once.
- More refined audio controls - you can now control which audio the video is playing from much more easily, as well as play all the audio at once.
How to access:
Next to the [3 files from Fri August 2021] dropdown in the image below, you will see two icons. Clicking on the first icon will allow you to control the layout, including collapsing the timeline. The second will allow you to switch audio modes, and the speaker icon next to each timeline can be used to control which audio is playing.

(3) Batch summarize
In response to a client needing to summarize 400 jail calls, we’ve implemented a new “batch summarize” feature. For batch summarization, you can choose several summary types (just like for a single recording summary.)
How to access:
Next to the “New Recording” button, find the icon with three dots, and click on Batch summarize.
